A very special compact camera with fully automatic operation. This was actually the first camera Canon ever made with a built-in flash. It is also unusual in that it also has the rangefinder focusing system too (virtually no other rangefinders have a flash). Take a look at the gallery for example photos we took with a Datelux. Feels really great to hold - far better build quality than later (more plastic) cameras. Very easy to use and with a lovely 40mm lens. Just turn the lens to focus and press the shutter button.  Comes with a reprint of the original instruction manual. If light is too low then the shutter will not fire, which reminds you to use the pop-up flash. Takes regular 35mm film. Has a self-timer, and can also imprint the year / month / day on photos if required. All functions tested: - Lovely clear viewfinder, with slick focusing action - Flash snaps up smoothly and charges quickly / fires strongly - Film winder works perfectly   - Lens clear of any dirt / scratches   Comes equipped with meter batteries and lens cap. In excellent condition with just a few signs of use.

A nice example of the legendary Olympus Trip 35 film camera. In good condition, with all functions professionally tested. Meter, shutter speeds, aperture all work fine, and the 'red-flag' indicator pops up when the light level is too low to take a photo. The camera light seals have also been replaced. Some minor marks / dings / scratches as expected, but overall in good condition for the age. We also stock a book: 'Learn Film Photography with the Olympus Trip 35'. Check it out here. Great for learning about photography using this camera. Also check out the Olympus 35 DC, Olympus 35 EC and the Minolta HiMatic E - they have an even better focusing system (rangefinder) and can cope with a wider range of lighting conditions - a great step up from the Trip 35 and some even cost less ! Alternatively if you are after a retro camera with a flash - the Canon A35 Datelux and Flash Fujica are great choices.

Nikon’s first ever autofocus SLR and winner of the 1986 Camera Of the Year award. Blends high technology with traditional exposure controls – an awesome combination. The Nikon F-501 was Nikon's first popular autofocus SLR for 35mm film, launched in 1986. Nikon cameras at the time were aimed at the pro / advanced consumer market and this camera demonstrates superb build quality.  It has a built-in motorised film drive (up to 2.5 shots per second), and with autofocus is excellent for sports and wildlife photography.  Unlike more recent cameras, most controls are via buttons and dials on the body - much better and faster to use than menus on tiny LCD screens. Also checkout the Nikon F-601 - the successor to the F-501 and a lovely camera. Features: Multiple exposure modes Electronically controlled shutter. Stepless shutter speeds from 1s to 1/2000 Electronic self-timer Meter can cope with very wide range of lighting conditions Film speeds from 12 to 3200 ISO.  Automatic film loading Single or Continuous shooting modes Takes standard alkaline batteries Compatible with a huge range of Nikon SLR lenses and accessories A landmark SLR from arguably the greatest camera maker of the era. This camera comes with a choice of the original Nikon 35-70mm, or 35-105mm zoom lenses, which are both great general-use lenses spanning wide angle (35mm) and portrait (70mm) or short telephoto (105mm) focal lengths. We also stock a selection of Nikon lenses for this camera - click HERE to view and expand your system ! Condition: Body and lens in very good condition. In perfect working order.

A very stylish manual SLR film camera with some very nice features. If you haven't seen any reviews of this camera we encourage you to read them.  Take a look at the gallery for some example shots we took with an FTb. This is one of the finest manual-only cameras of the era - with a lovely smooth winding / shutter action that screams quality. It operates in full manual mode, with the built-in light meter. The viewfinder has the tried-and-trusted match needle system, but also displays the selected shutter speed. Also has a self timer, and depth-of-field preview - a useful feature that is normally on higher-end cameras of the era. Uses the Canon Quick Load system to make loading film incredibly simple (the same system as used on the great Canonet QL17 rangefinder). The camera operates fully mechanically, and only uses the battery for the light meter. It takes 1x SR44 battery (supplied). We generally have both silver and black versions in stock. Let us know if you have a preference.  A superb camera for beginners who will really learn the fundamentals of photography, but with the quality to last for years. We also stock a book: 'Learn Film Photography with the Canon FTb'. Check it out here. Great for learning about photography using this camera.   Condition Very good condition all round - no major marks or scratches. Beautiful clear lens (50mm f1.8).  Viewfinder generally clear with a few marks on the focusing screen All functions are working correctly including the light meter   We also stock a selection of Canon lenses for this camera - click HERE to view and expand your system !

One of the finest cameras of the era. The A-1 was the top of the range of 'A' cameras introduced by Canon in 1976 that also includes the AE-1 and AE-1 Program. It builds on the other models by providing a full range of exposure modes including: Full manual Full program auto Shutter Priority Aperture Priority It does this cleverly using controls that are extremely clear and easy to operate. It is a beautiful camera to use. The Olympus 35 RC is one of our favourite cameras. Firstly it is seriously compact for a rangefinder but on top of that it offers both automatic in addition to full manual exposure control. In automatic mode you select the desired shutter speed using the top dial and the camera selects the correct aperture.  For manual mode you select both the aperture and the shutter speed for full control. Unusually the manual mode operates completely independently of the batteries so it is always available, and the batteries are just used when the automatic aperture is desired.  It has rangefinder focusing for accuracy and a really high quality lens. There are many internet articles talking about the great quality photos it can take. It also displays both the shutter speed and aperture in the viewfinder. A lovely little performer that feels great in the hand. Camera includes adaptor so that it can run on regular button cells.   Condition:  Very nice example with no major marks, and light scuffs from usage / dulling of the silver finish. Lens in excellent condition. Shutter speeds and meter checked for accuracy.

Originally aimed at serious amateur photographers, the SRT-101 has all of the features you could need in a manual SLR camera. Build quality is legendary (both inside and out). No surprise that Minolta sold a million of them. Released to compete with similar cameras of the era (e.g. the Canon FTb), the SRT-101 is part of a small group of cameras manufactured with build quality in mind, rather than the use of cheaper components. With a solid metal body the camera can operate without batteries (only the light meter needs them). It has one of the largest and brightest viewfinders in an SLR (that puts many later cameras to shame), making it great for composing your photos and capturing great images. We also stock a selection of lenses and accessories for this camera - click HERE to view and expand your system. We also occasionally have examples of the original Minolta leather case for these cameras. Click here. Pushing the shutter button is particularly satisfying, with a lovely smooth release movement. The viewfinder has a display of shutter speed at the bottom, with the right side having a needle that indicates if exposure is correct. Simply change the shutter speed or aperture to align two needles and set the correct exposure. The camera’s light meter measures exposure through the lens using twin sensors for accuracy. There is a huge range of Minolta lenses of different eras that can all be used on this camera. The camera has a depth-of-field preview button so that you can check before taking photo, plus a self-timer. Specifications Shutter speeds from 1/1000 – 1s + B Manual exposure control with ‘match-needle’ viewfinder metering Shutter speed displayed in the viewfinder Depth-of-field preview Self-timer 2 lens options available (50mm f/1.7 and f/1.4) Takes 1x SR44 battery (supplied)   Condition Body in good condition with a few light scratches from use Viewfinder is bright and clear with a few marks visible Fully tested with all functions in working order including shutter / film winding / meter

This is the Olympus 35 UC, the lesser known cousin of the 35 SP. It was available in Japan only and not exported. The only differences between the UC and the SP are that the UC has a battery check button, and it comes in a lovely black / silver finish (the SP was available in silver only). Of the many 35mm rangefinder cameras released by Olympus, the 35 UC and 35 SP are generally regarded as the finest. With a superb quality 7-element lens (which was also used in the 35 LE and 35 LC cameras), the image quality is stunning.  The 35 UC has both fully automatic exposure mode (where the camera selects both the aperture and shutter speed), and full manual mode with a viewfinder needle that tells you the light level so that you can set exposure correctly as desired. It also has a feature that is not found on any other rangefinder of the era - spot metering.  There is a button on the rear of the camera that switches metering to spot mode, and the meter then measures light only the small rangefinder square in the centre of the viewfinder. This enables a high level of control, and is especially useful for taking portraits against a bright or dark background.  Features Lens: 42mm f1.7, 7-elements Automatic Exposure Control: Fully automatic program exposure Battery: takes 1 x SR44 battery using supplied brass adaptor Metered-Manual Exposure Control Spot metering (activated via rear button) Film Speeds: ASA 25 - 800 Filter Size: 49mm Flash Synchonization at all shutter speeds Flashmatic System for correct flash exposure Focus Range: .85m - infinity Focusing: double image coupled rangefinder Self Timer: Lever operated with a 10 second delay Shutter: Seiko mechanical leaf shutter Shutter Speeds: (Manual Mode) B, 1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8,1/15, 1/30, 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500, Weight: 600g Condition Body in good condition with some graceful ageing of the black paint in places The bulb for the battery check light appears to have blown and is non-functioning.
