A beautiful example of this striking and beautiful SLR. This camera was the first mainstream professional camera, and was released with a wide range of accessories including more than 15 different types of focusing screen. With a serial number of 7108491 this camera was manufactured in 1970. It comes complete with the FTN (Photomic) prism with built-in metering, type A focusing screen, and the original slide-on hot shoe flash adaptor. This example is in excellent condition with no damage to the body or lens, and the chrome finish in great condition. Some light scratches in parts of the body, but overall not many signs of use. Lens is in excellent condition with no fungus or scratches.  The viewfinder is nice and clear, although there are some small marks on the focusing screen. In full working order. This was an advanced consumer-level autofocus SLR on sale from 1991 to 1995 and aimed a keen photographers. Most functions are selected via a control wheel on the top left of the camera which is clearly marked with icons for each function, making the camera suitable for beginners and more advanced users alike. It builds on the EOS-1000 by having a Quick Control dial on the back of the camera for faster access to camera functions. At the time it was notable for being the quietest camera in the EOS range. It is also equipped with a rare function that only one other Canon camera has - a barcode reader. Canon produced a book of 100 photos each demonstrating a particular group of camera settings. A barcode reader was used to scan these, and then transmit the data to the camera. Quite unique ! A milestone in photography: Canon's first autofocus SLR camera During the 1980s major camera manufacturers were all competing hard to add autofocus to their SLRs. See the gallery for some example shots we took with a T80 and 35-70mm lens. Canon's entry was the T80, introduced in 1985. To build a truly point-and-shoot camera the design is very minimal, with a heavy slant towards total automation. It has 5 automatic exposure modes.  Program mode - automatically selects both aperture and shutter speed Deep depth of field mode - selects aperture and shutter speed with a bias towards smaller apertures Shallow depth of field mode - selects aperture and shutter speed with a bias towards wider apertures (good for portraits) Stop action - selects aperture and shutter speed with a bias towards faster shutter speeds (for sport) Flowing mode - allows the user to select a shutter speed (suggested for shooting moving subjects).  With this level of automation there are very few buttons, and the exposure mode is selected with the slider on the top right, with pictograms to show you which mode you have selected. 3 special autofocus lenses were released to go with the camera: 50mm 35-70mm zoom 70-210mm zoom  All lenses have an unmistakable shape / profile to house the autofocus mechanism making this a striking camera to carry around - 1985 retro looks rock ! Note that the T80 can also take standard Canon FD mount lenses (the same as the Canon AE-1).
