The Nikon R8 (and larger R10) are highly sought-after cine cameras. With excellent build quality from the die-cast metal body to the superb lens, they are capable of delivering exceptional quality. The camera takes 6 x AA batteries in the sturdy grip, and 2 SR44 (with brass adaptors - supplied) for the meter. As an option we can offer the R8 with a conversion so that the meter is powered from the main batteries via a stable 2.7v voltage regulator. This eliminates the need for separate meter batteries, and also improves exposure accuracy since the regulator supplies the same voltage as the original mercury batteries for which the camera was designed. Please allow a few extra days for this to be completed if selected. Many Sankyo Super-8 cameras use a special 4xAA battery holder with an extra connection on the end (to give 6 volts to the camera, and 3 volts to the meter). This often deteriorates with age and cracks. This is a direct replacement.

A lovely example of one of the most sought-after Super-8 cameras Auto Zoom 814 Super 8 - Canon Camera Museum (global.canon) See the gallery for a test film shot with this camera.  In full working order, this camera has auto / manual exposure control, and a shutter open / close functions for manual fade-out / fade-ins. It was the first Super-8 camera to have a wide f/1.4 aperture combined with a powerful 8x zoom. Takes 4x AA batteries and 2 x SR44 batteries for the light meter (or can be converted to only require AA). Note that as an option this camera is also available modified to power the light meter from the main batteries using a 2.7 volt voltage regulator, so no separate meter batteries are needed. This improves meter accuracy and stability. This camera has been fully tested and all functions are working correctly. A striking camera with the largest lens we have seen on a Super-8 This is a lovely example of a unique-looking Super-8, with a massive 12x zoom. Note that the built-in tungsten filter on this camera has been disabled.
