14-day returns and 45-day warranty on all cameras
The one of the most advanced manual focus SLRs made by Nikon and this camera represented a milestone - it was the first to introduce computer-controlled matrix metering,
Up to this point all SLRs had basic metering with one (or two) light cells covering the field of view.
The FA splits the field of view into 5 areas and meters each one separately. The camera then compares these readings with a set of scenarios to intelligently compute the best exposure.
As a result it won the coveted 'European Camera of the Year' award in 1984.
It also offers advancde TTL (through-the-lens) flash metering with the SB-16 / SB-30 / SB-23 / SB-22 range of flash guns.
It shares the same titanium shutter as the Nikon FE2 and has a top shutter speed of 1/4000s, with a flash synchronisation speed of 1/250s.
It has Manual, Program, Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority exposure modes.
The metering system requires a slightly longer prism than previous Nikons, and coupled with the little LCD display window on the front of the prism this makes it both beautiful and distinctive.
