FILM TESTED Canon Scoopic 16MN 16mm movie camera
A lovely example of the legendary Scoopic. This camera has been film tested (using Kodak Vision 3 50D film and 24 fps frame rate). See the gallery for a short test video.
The Scoopic 16MN is an iconic camera that was used extensively from 1974, primarly for press work. It has a unique design with the handle offering superb vertical support for stability.
It has a wonderful zoom lens (12.5 - 75mm), taking 72mm filters at the front but also offering a slide-in filter slot. The filter slider is currently fitted with an 85A filter but this can be replaced with sheets of gelatin filters for other values.
Lens zoom is manual with the camera having the original silver zoom lever.
On the right of the camera is the power switch with settings for Auto and Manual exposure.
In automatic mode the camera measures the light and automatically changes the aperture. This system is operating smoothly, and the aperture value is shown at the top of the viewfinder.
Comes with a battery holder for use with AA alkaline batteries for convenience.
Manual aperture control is also possible.
The camera handles film speeds of ISO 20 - 640 in 1/3 stop increments.
Frame rates are 16 / 24 / 32 / 48 / 64.
