Neutral Density (ND) filters (various sizes and ratings)
Neutral Density (ND) filters (various sizes and ratings)
ND (Neutral Density) filters are used to reduce the amount of light coming into the lens of a camera, without changing the color at all. They are varying shades of neutral grey, and are labelled according to how much they reduce the light.
e.g.
ND2: 1/2 of the light passes through, so make the image darker by 1 stop
ND4: 1/4 of the light passes through, so make the image darker by 2 stops
ND8: 1/8 of the light passes through, so make the image darker by 3 stops
They are particularly useful for Super-8 movie cameras which have a fixed shutter speed which can present challenges in bright situations where the camera doesn't have a small enough aperture to achieve correct exposure.
Used, but in good condition (may just require a little cleaning).
