The R8 has an 8x zoom lens, with a very fast aperture of f1.4 giving excellent low light capabilities.

The R8 has some built-in advanced features that enable great creativity when shooting, including:

• Full manual exposure control (in addition to automatic)
• Fade-in and fade-out
• Overlap / rewind - to fade from one scene to another. This was a groundbreaking achievement that set the R8/10 apart from other Super-8 cameras
• Variable shutter angle
• 54 / 24 / 18 frames per second

The camera takes 6 x AA batteries in the sturdy grip, and 2 SR44 (with brass adaptors - supplied) for the meter.
