Olympus PEN-D film camera
Olympus PEN-D film camera
The Olympus Pen range of film cameras are half-frame cameras that use standard 35mm film (available everywhere), but take each photo on only half of the negative. This means that you get double the photos from each film - a huge 72 photos from a regular 36 exposure film.
If you get your films developed and just scanned, then most labs will not charge you any extra which makes this camera an awesome choice for keen photographers.
The Pen D has a lovely f/1.9 lens which is good for low light, and full manual control of aperture and shutter speed. Serious capability all in a tiny camera body.
See the gallery for some example photos we took using a Pen D.
The Pen D has a built-in electronic meter powered by a Selenium cell, so it operates entirely without batteries. This gives a meter readout number on the top of the camera. Simply move the shutter and aperture rings until the same number is indicated on the lens and shoot away.
Focusing is via a nice smooth lever at the base of the lens.
Shutter speeds are from 1/8 - 1/500 + B. Aperture range is f1.9 - f16.
